What is pain-free childbirth?
Painless childbirth (PCD), also known as the Lamaze method, is a set of techniques aimed at eliminating the anxiety and pain of childbirth through preparation during pregnancy, also through the use of complementary techniques during childbirth. Within this framework, a relationship of trust and collaboration must be created between the medical team and the mother.
Painless childbirth is in fact a method of breathing and relaxation that helps to reduce and control pain. A pioneering method before the advent of epidural analgesia, it is taught during childbirth preparation classes.
Lamaze exercises use several simple to learn patterns that can be practiced by the mother from pregnancy and up to childbirth.
The "cleansing" breath
This consists of a deep, slow inhalation through the nose and a slow exhalation through the mouth. These breaths are effective at the beginning and end of each contraction.
Slow Breathing
This technique is very useful to ensure the patient's relaxation. The patient should try to make your breathing natural and slow it down. These are not big puffs of air that fill your lungs and inflate your chest and abdomen, but something more superficial. This breathing raises the chest slightly and requires little effort.
Blowing Breath
Breathing with breath is another slow, shallow breathing technique where the patient also needs to be relaxed. Do not go beyond what is comfortable for you, and start with a "cleansing" breath. Next, inhale gently through the nose, and when exhaling, blow out slowly through the mouth.
As part of the enrichment of its Maternity ward, the Clinic of Ksar Helal Center is equipped with a room for painless childbirth preparation with appropriate equipment and professional support.
