Arm lift in Tunisia

As part of the silhouette surgery, the arm lift is a procedure aimed at firming and tightening the skin of the arms. Usually, the procedure involves sagging skin due to age (known as "skin ptosis") or significant weight loss. The objective of the Tunisia arm lift is to remove excess skin, reduce the underlying fat infiltration and redrape the whole.

The size and location of the scar induced by the surgical operation depends on the extent of skin distension and the type of intervention chosen.

This operation may be motivated by an aesthetic discomfort (crumpled appearance of the arm) but also functional (discomfort to mobility, difficulty in dressing).

Arm plasty must be adapted to the patient's morphology. The amount of excess fat cannot be the only criterion taken into account by the surgeon. During the consultation, he will examine the condition of the skin and its ability to retract, in order to determine the areas to be treated.

Before the intervention

A standard blood test will be required and no aspirin-containing medication will be taken for 10 days prior to the procedure.

Intervention

This operation is performed under general anesthesia and usually lasts 1 hour and a half. Like any surgery, an arm plasty induces visible  scarring. The location and length of the scar depends on the extent of skin distension and the type of surgery chosen:

In case of limited skin slackening or excess fat located in the upper and inner part of the arm, surgical techniques allow to limit the visibility of the scar keeping it to the armpit area.
In case of more significant slackening, it may be necessary to lower the scar a few centimeters along the arm. The scar is then hidden by short-sleeved clothing.
If the slackening is present all over the arm, a larger visible scar is necessary to obtain a satisfactory and long-lasting result. Indeed, the scar can extend from the armpit to the elbow on the back and inner part of the arm.
In case of simple excess fat, especially if it is located in the area below the biceps, it is not necessary to resort to an arm plasty. Lipoplasty or liposuction can achieve the desired result.

Post-surgery results of an arm lift

The postoperative consequences of a facelift or arm plasty are generally simple. Patients mainly feel sensations of pulling and twitching. Appropriate treatments (analgesics) are then prescribed to relieve this discomfort. A 24-hour hospital stay is usually necessary.

An arm lift induces bruising  that usually disappears within 8 to 21 days. The appearance of edema (swelling of the skin) is also normal. This gradually disappears until it disappears within 10 to 20 days.
